What I’ve Learned From Makeover Games

You can learn a lot by playing makeover games. I think anyone who isn’t used to the rough and tumble world of fashion has a great deal to learn, but even as someone who’s relatively up-to-date stylewise, I’ve learned a few things.

Don’t Go Too Far
When you do a style makeover on a makeover game or in real life, don’t go too far from your starting point. It’s hard enough to take a skirt when you’re used to wearing pants, but taking someone used to being in sports attire and putting them in a frilly skirt has doom written all over it. Stick to more updated versions of what she is already doing to make things smoother for everyone.

Encourage Correctly
When you ask someone to try something on for you to see how it looks, praise the results – don’t criticize where she came from. In real life this looks like the girl who wears something that is too tight getting more glamorous in tailored pants and pointy heels. The finished product should be lavishly praised and all the good points shown. Avoid criticizing the two – she can see that one is better than the other already.
