When a Makeover Isn’t the Answer

A makeover is almost always the answer to a bad day or a recent break up. But sometimes a dramatic new look simply isn’t a good idea.

When You’re Mad
The worst time to do a makeover is when you are mad at anything or anyone. When you’re angry, you’re often not thinking straight and this can result in a tragic mistake. For example, if you have decided to hate your exboyfriend who always played with your long hair, in your anger you might head to the salon to get it whacked off – just to spite him.

If you realize only after the new haircut that you really don’t look that great in super short hair, you’re stuck for the time being at least. Obviously if you’d been thinking straight, you have at least played a few makeover games online to see what the difference is between short hair on your face and body type and long hair.

When You’re in Transition
It would seem that being in transition is the best time for a makeover, and in your specific case it might be. It truly depends on the kind of transition you’re making. If you’re about to have a baby, changing your hairstyle is about the only thing you can do, but you don’t know how it will really look until a few months after you deliver, so why bother?

If you’re about to start a new school, a simple makeover can be good to give you confidence, but a huge makeover can actually make you more nervous since you might not feel comfortable with the results.
